So far so good.
This tells you to enter *your* password for the sudo in the next line :-)

Those are somewhere under /home/Geordie/.gnumed/server-installation/...

It is your own password, the password for "Geordie".

In that case try running the bootstrapper as user "postgres".

Can you mail the entire log to me and others you find in
that directory ?

Is it the content of the /home/Geordie/gnumed *file* or
*directory ? If it's the file then can you mail me the file ?

Well, because the script cannot become user "postgres" it
cannot connect as user postgres either.
Try running the whole thang as "postgres".
