I have tried many times and gnumed login screen does not show up on the desktop 
despite what the log says.

If your software installed easily instead of some convoluted methods as you 
have created I would not be  asking a whole lot of dumb questions. Software 
should install and work like every other one I have installed. Yours does not. 
Thanks for the wasting of my time.
