I have identified the reason why you were unable to start
GNUmed:
Psycopg2 is unable to deal with your time zone. Please edit your
/home/your-name/.gnumed/gnumed.conf
file and look for the group [backend]. Create the group or
add/edit the option "client timezone" in that group:
[backend]
client timezone = 'your UTC offset'
So, if you are 5 hours ahead of Greenwich you would set it to:
client timezone = '05:00:00'
