Hi all,

Please add a link to the FAQ section of the wiki in the help section of the
login window (Help button).

This is the ideal junior programming job and your chance to either learn how
to produce a patch or work with GIT.

I believe the password in GNUmed is a much larger hurdle then we realize :-).
Despite the fact that any-doc's password is mentioned just about everywhere it
is not picked up by many.

One of today's chat sessions asking how to login or create local users ...

start of the chat log:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
releasedude (me): Hi
releasedude: What operating system do you have ?
webuser: see the error message i get
webuser25119: Connecting to backend
---------------------------
Unable to connect to database:

PostgreSQL: FATAL: password authentication failed for user "any-doc"
DSN: dbname=gnumed_v12 host=127.0.0.1 port=5432 user=any-doc password=any-doc
sslmode=prefer

Please retry with proper credentials or cancel.

You may also need to check the PostgreSQL client
authentication configuration in pg_hba.conf. For
details see:

wiki.gnumed.de/bin/view/Gnumed/ConfigurePostgreSQL

Please consult the error log for all the gory details !

OK

releasedude: Ah, I see
releasedude: you are trying to log on to a local database
releasedude: let us do that step by step
webuser25119: yes i am but don't know how to set up users
releasedude: there is a user any-doc
releasedude: with the password any-doc
releasedude: but
releasedude: first
releasedude: please select the other profile
releasedude: from the dropdown list
releasedude: and try to connect to the public database
releasedude: if that works you are half way there
releasedude: which client version are you using ?
releasedude: 0.6.2 ?
webuser: it works i've connected to the public network using any-doc
webuser: yes 0.6.2
releasedude: k
releasedude: now you are connected to the public database
webuser: sorry 0.6.1
releasedude: it might be a bit slower then a local database
releasedude: so when you experience a lag that is mostly due to the internet
connection
releasedude: it will run faster when you have a local database
releasedude: however to try it out the pulic one should do
webuser: ok the public database has loaded
webuser: how do i go about setting up a local data base
releasedude: i will send you a link
releasedude: hang on
releasedude: http://wiki.gnumed.de/bin/view/Gnumed/InstallerGuideWinEn
releasedude: have a look at the video guide
releasedude: that is linked there
releasedude: it should show the process
webuser: ok thank you
releasedude: let us know if you have trouble getting it going
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
end of chat.
