Sorry ... am not at my Laptop right now and "Project Beatriz" (5,2 kg , 2months 10days of age - just had her vaccine shot - is not happy with the world right now) could make the config of the Xorg a little problematic the next few days. 

don´t worry about it ... I managed to not throw away my old machine so I have GNUmed exacly as I need it for the time being :)

Actually, "C" locale *should* work, does it not ?
