I am starting a new thread as the last one is quite long already. It looks like all the directories above the GNUmed specific ones need to have at least 0755 permissions. It seems that the permissions for user foo in /users/foo are 0755 by default but any subdirectory such as /users/foo/Documents have 0700 which is too restrictive if you download and unpack gnumed-gnumed (from gitorious tgz) into /Users/foo/gnumed-gnumed then bootstraping seems to work after 1) sudo su # will change to root user 2) changing the config files (uncomment postgres password line) 3.) making sure psql is in the path Please report any problems. Sebastian
