provide them will null strings like

GNUmed > Preferences > External tools > FreeDiams path (shell command with 
which to start FD)

- this depends on the OS
- is the result to be written into a .conf file or into the database?
... if in the database, it cannot be tied to the workplace because in a mixed 
OS environment more than one machine (OS) may desire to use the same workplace. 
  

- how does a selection in
        Knowledge > Drug resources > Database
interact with the FreeDiams path

- is the idea for GNUmed to use "select-only" or "prescriber" mode?

- will the FD XML options be praxis-level configurational options (and if so, 
where and how would these be best managed) or will  they be hard-coded in 
GNUmed?
