Well, this is an extremely side-mention, on page 113. This paper concerns 
robotics, and stated that robotics depends on software, which was mentioned 
could be open,  and it says:

More and more software is developed in open source projects, where the public 
gets involved in modifying and improving freely distributed software. The 
open-source and open-platform approach is even supported by large companies 
like Microsoft and Apple as well as by the 5th and 6th EC Framework Program. 
For managing medical records and data administration, the open source medical 
record software GNUmed has been distributed. Also for robot development in 
general, there is a huge array of open source software available and even the 
Japanese home-/care-robot “Wakamaru” is Linux- based.
