Well, this is an extremely side-mention, on page 113. This paper concerns
robotics, and stated that robotics depends on software, which was mentioned
could be open, and it says:
...
More and more software is developed in open source projects, where the public
gets involved in modifying and improving freely distributed software. The
open-source and open-platform approach is even supported by large companies
like Microsoft and Apple as well as by the 5th and 6th EC Framework Program.
For managing medical records and data administration, the open source medical
record software GNUmed has been distributed. Also for robot development in
general, there is a huge array of open source software available and even the
Japanese home-/care-robot “Wakamaru” is Linux- based.
...
are such mentions of value to track?
