No problem. As long as you keep supplying information we can
attempt to give suggestions.

Sure, in hindsight, this is probably the better option.
Several factors contributed to the current situation:
- initially I hadn't thought enough about possible long-term consequences
- the demo data actually serves a purpose - it force(s|d) me
to write working data conversion scripts for database
upgrades (we haven't lost a single bit due to upgrading
from v2 to v19 !)
- we've put in a solution to that part of the problem for
which we needed a solution anyway (removing a person from
the database)
- maintaining a demo database outside the usual
bootstrapping puts the burden of maintaining that with
each release (as opposed to being converted on upgrade
just like any old data)
Nowever, around v10 or so I stopped adding relevant amounts
of demo data due to the above factors.
