You are almost in :-)

The check is broken for wxpython 2.9 on Mac. You can easily fix this by:

1.) Find your gmGuiMain.py in wxpython folder of the GNUmed tarball (after 
unpacking)

2.) go to line 30 where it says "3rd party libs"

3.) comment out the last lines in that block ( wxversion.ensure.....)

4.) Save the file

5.) start GNUmed. Enjoy.
