Hi,
This is my first post to this list so please bear with me.
About a month ago, I started to use GNUmp3d (v 1.74 2004/05/18). Great stuff!
I liked it but I found a number of issues with it.
The main issue (for me) was that I could not get all my French, Brazilian,
Japanese,... titles/Artists to display correctly.
Rather than complain and even though I never really used Perl, I decided to
solve the problem myself. It seems now to be mostly OK for me .. which means
- I only modified and tested the Ogg bits. Yet many of the mods are general
and support for MP3 would probably only require to modify mp3info.pm
- I used HTML::Entites for encoding the directory/file names
- The cache file now contains an HTML encoded version of the tags
e.g. François instead of François
- I used "recode" to translate UTF-8 tags to HTML entities. (In
oggtagreader.pm)
- I only tested the server under Linux (I used various browsers: Konqueror,
Mozilla under Linux and Netscape and IE under XP(sive))
I also found 2 minor bugs
- URL were not encoded when playing random music. It was
mostly innocuous, but it was preventing files containing a "?" to be
played under XMMS
- In one page a "$HEADER" was not being filtered out... Could have been in
the "LaFrere" theme
So here is my question... Are you guys interested in my mods? If so what shall
I do?
Cheers,
François
