[Gnump3d-users] fresh install fails on FreeBSD/Perl 5.8.5

hey all-

Just migrated from my OpenBSD machine over to a new FreeBSD 5.3 server, 
instaleld GNUMP3d and 'make test' reports:

10. Test running the installed gnump3d script. [OK]
Can't open perl script "#": No such file or directory.
Use -S to search $PATH for it.

same issue when attempting to run from the command line. worth 
mentioning that i tweaked the Makefile to install into "/usr/local" 
instead of "/usr", but i did update the config file with:

theme_directory = /usr/local/share/gnump3d/
index_program = /usr/local/bin/gnump3d-index
stats_program = /usr/local/bin/gnump3d-top

what do i need to tweak to get back in action?
