I suppose i could see it being useful if the user couldn't really delete a song from the archive--just from their view of available tracks.  Or maybe if files were moved to some safe harbor location where an admin would have to actually delete the files.  But that makes it more complicated.

If I didn't need to worry about users a) decided they knew best, or b) not paying attention, I'd say it's a good idea.
Which isn't to say it's a bad idea...just one that needs to be thought through quite a bit.

not that I've ever posted before or that anyone needs to listen to my .02.

kisses,

jimbo.

I've been using gnump3d for a year or more now. I have a rather large
collection of MP3's most of which I have not even listened to yet. As I
listen it would be great to be able to delete an MP3 directly from the
user interface. Some sort of check box/radio button next to the selection
   would be great.

For this to be possible one major change would be necessary

The user you were running the server as would need *write*
    access to the archive.

The just strikes me as being bad on too many levels. If you were
willing to risk it the code would be very simple though, you'd only
need to copy the 'info.pm' plugin and change it to do "rm" instead
of looking up information on the given file.

As you suggest adding links in the theme file(s) would be required
to give an interface to it - but that is fiarly simple if you were
to add links to the configuration file instead.

Would something like this help others using gnump3d? If someone can
contribute a theme that does that I would really appreciate it.

I'm not sure how useful it would be, but I'd be interesting in hearing
 thoughts.

I suspect more people would care about being able to *upload* songs
than about deleting existing ones - although I guess the ideal would
be to do both. (Along with renaming, etc).
