  I've made a pre-release of GNUMP3d v3.0, which I'd appreciate feedback
 on.

I think it contains all the patches and fixes it should. Get it
from either CVS or the temporary download location:

    http://www.steve.org.uk/Software/GNUMP3d/tmp/

I'm torn on what to do with windows support. I could rip it all out,
or leave it untested and unsupported. Either works for me as I can no
 longer test it.

As people have no doubt noticed I've not touched the code in a long
time now, and I think that this release will be the last I make.

Whether it is the last ever release is a different matter. Several
people have made good patches and fixes and I'm prepared to allow
a *group* of volunteers to take it over after this release if they
 wish to make themselves known.

I don't want to rule anybody out - since almost anybody is better
than nobody at all - but I'd trust people who have previously submitted
patches a lot more than any random "unknowns"...

My interest in streaming MP3s has partly waned over the past year
or two - since I work from home and don't have that "office-wide-jukebox"
thing happening, and partly the goals of this software no longer align
 with what I want myself.

Nowadays I use (unreleased) software which is superficially related
to GNUMP3d, but stores all its data in a database and allows ratings,
 etc.

The updated plugin code of this release is inspired by that, and also
by the "toy" release I did here:

    http://www.steve.org.uk/Software/mysql-mp3/

Hmm this mail ended up with me announcing my resignation, rather than
just pointing to the code and asking for tests. I'll still be around
at least for a month or two after the release.

So .. back to the topic. Theres a pre-release. Its available.
  Testing is good.

  Umm thanks.

Steve
