Taken from the project homepage:

gproxy will be an HTTP proxy for GNUnet, which is an anonymous, distributed and 
reputation-based peer-to-peer network, that allows censorship-resistant file 
sharing. With gproxy you can access these files through a web browser. It aims 
to achieve a similar functionality as the Freenet Project's fproxy. This 
project was started in a course on decentralized system development at the 
Berlin University of Technology.
