One of the highest bandwidth ways of getting messages out of 'Tahrir Square' is for someone to allow their device to absorb all the outgoing messages in the local environment, and then to put the device in their pocket and physically relocate it - by walking or cycling or driving or flying - to somewhere where network access is not constrained.

The combination of store and forward with portable ubiquitous devices could make it very hard for oppressive states to control the flow of information.

This is why I'd like to see some form of store and forward protocol in the FreedomBox specification.
