I think that NSNotFound is not appropriate for the selectedItem and here they
are using -1
NSNotFound is used when the method do a search (index of objects), ranges and
so on.

Have you noticed that Apple now use NSNotFound where in the past they used -1 ?
(maybe ranges ??)
