I don't know which patch caused this behaviour, but resizing a window
when using the xlib backend is now a lot slower than it used to be.
This can be seen very easily: Start up the GSTest application, launch
the NSBox test and resize the window of the test. On my slow machine it
takes some seconds for the window to catch up with the resizing.
To find the reason for this problem I did try to do some profiling of the library code. Although I did follow the description by
Nicola very closely I did not succeeded in getting any information from
this. Any help of one of these problem will be welcome

When did it start? I went back all the way to release 0.7.8 (Jun 10) and get the same results. Although my machine is relatively fast, I can see the redraw occuring.
