I've mentioned this before, but the Win32 API explicitly does allow  
this.  You can reserve a region of one of the standard dialogs for  
drawing your own controls in.  If GNUstep on Win32 supports drawing an  
NSView into an arbitrary Win32 window then accessory views are really  
not hard to add.  Having them interact with the selection in the main  
part is slightly harder but not impossible.
