That is the thing. 

The NSDocumentController is created in NSApplication finishLaunching.

My menu is like that:

It totally fails to write the recent documents.
"defaults read EOModelEditor" gets me all sorts of info,
like the table view columns, window sizes etc..., but NO recent files.
