I think MINGW32 and WIN32 are actually slighly different things, aren't 
they?

Wherever I looked for, it seems that __MINGW32__ should be safe to 
detect a generic MSYS environment.
We shouldn't pollute certain Windows things, since we could also use 
CYGWIN which I suppose still has WIN32.
