Which, by the way boggles, my mind.  The number of systems with a GPS
and multiple /dev/ppsN devices nodes has to be vanishingly small, no?

If there is only one /dev/ppsN device node, why can't GPSD just assume
that it is acceptable to use it with the GPS?
