A bit of confusion in there.

ntpdate is the old/deprecated tool.

ntptrace needs a man page.  The current version calls ntpq.  It should be 
rewritten to use mainline ntp packets rather than the debugging stuff.

sntp and ntpq are both mainline tools.  ntpq is the primary debugging and 
monitoring tool.  sntp has a debug switch which prints out more info (and 
doesn't smash the clock).
