Use libtool?
Or implement the way it handles such problems - without rpaths, but by adding
a wrapper script, setting proper ld options for your binaries which are built
in .libs.
And/or relink all binaries without -rpath on install time.

And now do all these things in the proper way for all architectures and all
kinds of cross compilation.

autotools is annoying, but it actually handles such things properly. scons is
imho about 10 years behind the development of autotools.


I'm still considering to package my own gpsd fork just to be able to add a
sane build system to it, or orphan the package in Debian. I've never WASTED
more time on a package than with debugging scons fuckups or fuckups invented
by people trying to work around the issues that come with scons.
