[I'm trying to setup some Garmin USB toys.]
I noticed a pile of clutter in syslog:
Aug 27 00:42:36 glypnod gpsd[12518]: gpsd:ERROR: response:
{"class":"ERROR","message":"No such device as /dev/gps0"}\x0d\x0a
Aug 27 00:42:42 glypnod gpsd[12518]: gpsd:ERROR: response:
{"class":"ERROR","message":"No such device as /dev/gps0"}\x0d\x0a
Aug 27 00:42:48 glypnod gpsd[12518]: gpsd:ERROR: response:
{"class":"ERROR","message":"No such device as /dev/gps0"}\x0d\x0a
Aug 27 00:42:54 glypnod gpsd[12518]: gpsd:ERROR: response:
{"class":"ERROR","message":"No such device as /dev/gps0"}\x0d\x0a
Aug 27 00:43:00 glypnod gpsd[12518]: gpsd:ERROR: response:
{"class":"ERROR","message":"No such device as /dev/gps0"}\x0d\x0a
Aug 27 00:43:06 glypnod gpsd[12518]: gpsd:ERROR: response:
{"class":"ERROR","message":"No such device as /dev/gps0"}\x0d\x0a
12518 ? S<s 0:00 gpsd -n /dev/ttyUSB0
I think the error messages are the result of ntpd trying to watch /dev/gps0
I vote for some limit on logging. I think that one an hour is the right
ballpark. It would be nice to let a small batch through initially, say 6 or
10.
---------
gpsmon /dev/ttyUSB0 says:
Garmin USB binary> No monitor matches Garmin USB
Yet if I start gpsd (as above) with that device, then ask gpsmon to talk to
gpsd,
it displays some info. The header line says:
Garmin Serial binary>
I was hoping it would tell me which one is the GPS-18x vs GPS-18, but I don't
see that.
