Please note there are several PTP efforts out there.
The two that are associated with Network Time Foundation are:
- LinuxPTP, which is designed to offer the best possible time on the
latest and greatest linux kernel. Not interested in other OSes or in
backward compatibility, even with older Linux kernels.
- PTPd, which is geared towards portability and the best quality that
they can get.
There is, of course, more to each project, but that's the overview.
