Yo All!
I fixed this problem on OS X. Noted solution in the INSTALL file:
> mini:gpsd root# gpsd -nN /dev/tty.usbserial
> gpsd:ERROR: shmat failed: Too many open files
I am still getting these with scons check:
> Processing test/daemon/ac12_binary.log
> gpsd:ERROR: device open failed: Permission denied - retrying read-only
> gpsd:ERROR: read-only device open failed: Permission denied
> gpsd:ERROR: /dev/ttys005: device activation failed.

I'm not handy with the test harness.
Where is the /dev/tty* created?
