Current clone, gpsd 'scons check' passes on an Intel Edison (http://download.intel.com/support/edison/sb/edison_pb_331179001.pdf) running Gentoo unstable, kernel Linux edison 3.10.17-yocto-standard-r2 #7 SMP PREEMPT Thu Feb 26 09:57:06 UTC 2015 i686 Genuine Intel(R) CPU 4000 @ 500MHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux .

I have an additional adafruit "Ultimate GPS" (https://www.adafruit.com/products/746) coming for use with an Edison.  It uses MTK3339 chipset (lots of good chipset documentation at adafruits product page linked above).

This is the same GPS chip on the board Gary ordered for his Raspberry Pi (https://www.adafruit.com/products/2324).

The MTK3339 has a RTC onboard that can be powered years by a lithium cell battery.  This is useful for boards like the Edison & Raspberry Pi, who do not have any built-in battery powered RTC.
