I'll take a patch. alloca() was already there from a long time ago.
For now I'm just trying to get things to build again.
But just between you and me, I really like alloca(). Dunno why it is
so hated. With alloca() you can never forget the free() and it
is trivial to code into a library.

Well, duh. Anything on the stack can do that!
Otherwise, how are the errors going on your end?
