Yes.  It can take gpsd a while to autobaud, determine your GPS type,
get the sat data.  With -n you get good data in 1 second.  No reason not
to use -n, it is the very, very, rare GPS that can save power by not
using -n.

Yeah, you likely have systemd running.  Most people tell systemd to keep
their hands off you gpsd/GPS.
