Glad you like it. It is new, so a bit in flux. Suggestions welcome.
The ubxtool in git head now is starting to work with the u-blox 9.

I get no such warnings on gentoo. Send warnings here and they will
get looked at.

At best 0.5% of gpsd users benefir from the current default. But
every time someone suggests to change it there is large resistance.
Suggestions on how to improve the manual are welcome.

ubxtool can have its defaults set with an environment variable (UBXOPTS),
doing the same for xgps would be easy. it would be a nice patch
for someone to submit.
