Clone the upstream repo within gitlab to your user "A". Clone your
gitlab's user A repo to your machine, create a branch, work, push to
A's gitlab repo. Check gitlab's page for that branch and you will have
a "Create merge request" button ready. It will auto sync if you update
A's branch.

It is actually pretty straightforward.
