A common example was that C did not used to allow // comments.

Oh, yes.  We have no Qt client example, and no way to test.

I'm not touching what I can't test.  I wish someone came up with a
sample Qt client.

Yeah, scons duplicates a ton of stuff.  Something too look at for
3.20.
