These requirements are impossible to fulfill, and especially that "one
stage only" requirement is just bullshit. It is a massive waste of time
for everybody who has to work on a platform that is not as fast as a
modern intel/amd hardware.

If people would read and follow the documentation instead of having
their own stupid ideas on how to play tricks on a build system, even
autotools and friends would have been better than this unbearable thing
called scons.

Especially ESR does not think about the people who have to work with
those buildsystems. Its a massive waste of time introduced to all those
who have to figure out how to package, cross-build or just maintain
their company internal build of gpsd. There is a reason why some build
systems are esoteric and are only used by idiots: they are broken for
large parts of the world and force a big waste of time on all people who
have to work with it. Systems like cmake are well integrated everywhere
- and as long as you follow the documentation and don't play stupid
tricks (again) with the build system, building gpsd will be absolutely
easy for those who have to.

And if you have to adept your development workflow: do it, don't for
many more people to mess with your crap.
