I can sorta disprove it. On overpowered hardware it takes about 32 seconds to build gpsd, running the regressions takes eight minutes 32 seconds.
The machine is a 3.6-4Ghz Ryzen (VM) instance w/ 8GiBs ram and about 64GB storage.

Nobody every figured it out if the issue is in the kernel or in the gpsd
code. Or both. Or in Python. Or libc.
Fast or correct? I might take a stab at it, but expect to fail.
