Yes, and worth it.

You could just hit ^c when you get bored.

"scons build-tests" builds all the tests, but does not run them.  Then
you can run the tests by hand.

"scons build-all" calls "scons build-tests" so it should work fine.

I just tried "scons build-all", then I could run the tests fine.

    gpsd # scons -c
    gpsd # scons build-all
    [...]
    gpsd # cd buildtmp/tests
    tests # ./test_bits
    Testing bitfield extraction
    [...]
