gpsd does the DNS lookup on startup, as there is no way for gpsd to

If you know the IP of your NTRIP server, use that instead.
I always used the IP of the NTRIP server, never the name. Any ideas?
Npoe.  Try to start gpsd with "-D 4" and grab the log for the first minute.

The NTRIP code at startup has not changed for reconnect.  Must be
something happening that is not setting up for reconnect.
I started "/usr/sbin/gpsd -D 4 -n -P /var/run/gpsd.pid /dev/ttyGNSS /dev/pps0 -G ntrip://user:passswd@11.12.13.14:2101/BASIS" once with gsm connection and once whithout.

At the first case I interrupted the connection during message_gsm2 and reconnected in the beginning of message_gsm_4. I had RTCM3 messages in *0,*1,*2 and *4.

AT the second case I had'nt connected at the beginning but during message_no_gsm_2. I never got RTCM3.

I don't know where to look for "something happening that is not setting up for reconnect". Would you do that, please?
