Yo All!

Any AIS people got their earss on?

I tracked the recent AIS regression to this commit:

commit dd17936ae45d227bb956b6c1d9cec02910ce27c6 (HEAD)
Author: Gary E. Miller <gem@rellim.com>
Date: Fri Sep 16 20:35:36 2022 -0700

gpsd/packet.c: Insist on valid NMEA checksum. Except $STI.

Not anything that I expected.

Here is the 1st regressions failure:

8|0|366999712|366|56|256:3a53dbb7be4a773137f87d7b0445f040dea05d93f593783194ae9b9d9dbe05fb
-8|0|999999999|366|56|256:eb0d4f917a035b2dfca3d4739381735c18ebbe754936f66850037dcacd9538b8

8|0|992509977|1|11|-368039|3197693|18T17:15Z|3|6|12|15|742|50|323|224|2|153|16|1|103|256|104|257|10|126|203|20|42|35|25|23|48|124|3|223|6|53|0

The middle message went away. Looking ar the source log for the missing
message:

!AIVDM,2,1,6,A,8>qc9wiKf>d=Cq5r0mdew:?DLq>1LmhHrsqmBCKnJ50,0*30
!AIVDM,2,2,6,A,3OLc=UCRp,0*4A,b003660465

What is that junk after the checksum? Is that legal? It wsa previously
ignred.

Can gpsd stop after the valid checksum and ignore the rest? Or does the
rest maean anything?

Once this is resolved, I have a patch so that AIS test filures stop
"scons check" as they should.

I think that is the last regressions before a release?
