I'm not an X erudite, nor I have a linux box to fiddle around (I
run NetBSD on a DECstation) but is it possible that the program
cannot find the required fonts?

I just downloaded that version to compare, can someone tell me what
the extension '.bz2' is? Gunzip doesn't unpack it.
