So someone has to find a simpler solution.  Is there a reasonable appromixation
with linear optimization?

As a first step the RGB implementation should be made working.                  
      
Then some hand-made CMYK stuff could be added, for example the         
transformation formulas developped during the past weeks should be
good enough as a first measure.
More optimizations could be file onto the TODO list.

Are there other free software graphics packages with an open source solution for
CMYK?  What about KDE, gnome, and the X sources (tho not copylefted)?
