[Groff] .hcode in groff.texinfo

My library of *roff documentation has hitherto been various papers by
Brian Kernigan et al, the not so good Docmunters Workbench Manual. Just
the other day I printed the groff.texinfo. And it is nice reading one
brief comment.
I sat reading about hyphenation and having skimmed through the .hpf
request I came to .hcode, and I just could not under stand what a
hyphenation code was (in spite of the fact that this is explained in
the description of the .hpf request a few paragraphs up).
I looked up the .hcode in a an old gtroff man page, and there was a
crossref to hpf. That would be helpful...
