Interesting. The -u eliminates the _^H as expected, but the -b is not
as effective. Here is a part of a udiff (via cat --show-all):
-N^HN^HN^HNA^HA^HA^HAM^HM^HM^HME^HE^HE^HE$
+N^HNA^HAM^HME^HE$
Ie, it reduces bold from quad-strike to double-strike.
The above line is from:
.SH "NAME"
in the manpage src.
I had to add -o to the grotty options to eliminate ^H from the output.
So it looks line an-old.tmac is doing more than .ft B for .SH.
(BTW, if an-old.tmac is a suse-ism, then it would be the same as the
an.tmac from the original groff dist; in that case their an.tmac does
the same thing as andoc.tmac.)
