Hi!
Sorry to come to this thread so late, but I'm on vacation.
So-called "smartquotes" can be achieved by invoking the macro
.SMARTQUOTES
when using the mom macro set.
SMARTQUOTES doesn't pretend to be a perfect solution, merely
a convenience so that when you type a double-quote in your
text editor, it gets converted to the appropriate left/right
double-quote. Single quote marks (which most people enter with
the apostrophe character) still have to be entered manually, so
to speak.
