[Groff] 1.18.1 with mm overflow problem |

I'm using 1.18.1 with mm (command
groff -sgPet -mm -rW23.5c -rL21.9c -P-l test03|psnup -2 > test03.psk )
and keep getting the following error message:
test03:423: fatal error: input stack limit exceeded (probable infinite loop)
This happens with a series of files that were fine with 1.15 (Mac OSX 10.1)
but are now driving me up the wall -- I haven't been able to figure out a
consistent way of deleting text to eliminate the error.
Has anyone else had a similar experience?
