[Groff] Small questions .. about output devices ..

 I'm making a stab at a gropdf, and have come a little bit looking at grops 
sources, however what I am curious about is the prefered structure in a output 
device directory.

 Since pdf's are quite structured, I have started off using objects to store 
the document elements and postponing output till the document is completely 
built, but where do I store the definitions of these ?

 Is the naming and so on 'free' in these directories or is there a preferred 
standard ?
