I have just purchased a G5, with OS X 10.3; the version of groff is
GNU groff version 1.18.1
.....
GNU troff (groff) version 1.18.1
GNU grops (groff) version 1.18.1
dated
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 98256 23 Sep 23:39 /usr/bin/groff*
and I have run the pic manual (pic.ms) through it with no trouble; also eqn
text of my own. So perhaps Apple has caught the problem already.
