I have made a book for kids. I would like to try to make it in groff.
It is mostly images going all the way to the borders of the
pages.Ttext is printed over the pictures. In order to see text i
sometimes have to change the color of the text. I can not finde
anything about changing font colors in groff but Ted earlier sad:
provided you are using PostScript output you can include
PS graphic code in your groff.
Hi Mikkel,
Yes, you can define colour in groff, yes, you can
change the colour of text (not the colour of the font).
E.g. black text \m[red]red text \m[]black text again
However, if your book is dominated by pictures and employs little text,
then
it could be a good option to do the whole thing in PostScript alone.
E.g. you would have a lot more flexibility in positioning the text, in
changing its colour
continuously if needed, in clipping to ellipses or any shape, adding
little "toonish" things
like puffs of smoke, clouds etc indicating what text comes from whom,
etc.
Work, yes, overwhelming, no.
groff is a text formatter, you need it (desperately) if you have lots
of text, if you need left AND right alignment
etc, plus some graphics. Your case is the other way around and you'd
need to learn/do PS as well as
groff. You might as well do it in PS.
If you'd like to go this way, I can lend you a hand.
