I would prefer not to open a can of Lorenz transformation worms in a
discussion of typesetting.
Off-topic, but surely not out of mind for you, I'm attaching the state
of my groff-terminfo-redux branch, reflecting our last exchange on the
subject.
At present my hands are full with the copy-mode-ification of the `\X`
escape sequence, but I've got that decomposed into nearly as few chunks
as I can get it without having to alter the expectations of existing
test cases. I hope to push that in the next 1-3 days.
