Yes, not exactly.
With a vfs, you can navigate in the VFS. Here, you will also be able to do 
requests,
that will be computed for gtktalog catalogs, that will be translated to SQL for 
SQL
databases, or into XPath for XML catalogs...
An extended VFS maybe, can we call it like this ?

This is the GUI. Maybe it can be done in gtktalog-1.2 ? But this is not the 
priority.
The priority is to have gtktalog work with gnome2 :) Anyway, such a change 
would also
justify a gtktalog-1.4 release I think.
