Install somewhere below your own home directory and add the root to
GUILE_LOAD_PATH.
For example, if (foo bar) is installed in
/home/richard/Guile/modules/foo/bar.scm, you need
$ GUILE_LOAD_PATH=${GUILE_LOAD_PATH}:/home/richard/Guile/modules
$ export GUILE_LOAD_PATH
